I am the creator of God is a Refuge. I believe that we as Christians have a responsibility to not only spread God’s word but to also encourage one another. My prayer is that this site is a blessing to you, and that it reaches your heart. I am the proud mother of a wonderful nine year old boy. He is my inspiration. I thank God for him everyday. I also love spending time with my two adorable nieces.

Joe is a 37-year-old husband, father, blogger, musician, and seminary graduate. Prior to pursuing vocational ministry, he worked for 15 years with people with disabilities. Joe’s writing interests are in exploring new ways to articulate the timeless truths of our faith in an ever-changing world. He loves to find inspiration in biblical stories or passages that are often forgotten or are not often the subjects for sermons. In his free time, he plays guitar in a band based in Elgin, IL called the Annie Young Gospel Blues Band, in which they allow him to channel his inner Jimi Hendrix, as long as he doesn’t try to dress like Jimi in public.
